         Inspiration Board                    Travel Outfits Edition

Everyone has faced the struggle when they could not fit their clothes into the luggage as we get restrictions on the weight and sizes while travelling.

However, most of the time, half of the clothes we take with us are unnecessary or we don’t even wear them as a result. To avoid this, inspiration boards can be created which can help to plan outfits for the trip ahead.

Although we are unable to travel at the moment, it does not mean we cannot get inspired and create outfits for the future.

There is no right or wrong way to start this, everyone has their phone/laptop and can use several apps to create collages or alternatively, images can be printed out or cut from magazines.

         How to Create Inspiration Board:

  • First thing is to research about the location you are going to. Regardless if it is Paris or just a weekend somewhere in Scotland, the main things to consider are weather, what you would like to do and what places you are going to visit. Plans can change and so can the weather but having an idea can help to pack only things which you will need.

  • While you cut images from the magazine or save them online, think realistically if you are going to wear this.

  • It can be easier to start with your own wardrobe and take pictures of the clothes and accessories which you might bring with you. This way you will be able to avoid spending too much money as you can create a new style with what you have already.

  • While looking for inspirations, think about colours, texture, accessories and also about other images which can create a mood for a certain look. Not every image in your board has to be related to fashion, inspiration can be found in anything.

  • Colour schemes can be created. It is easier to mix and experiment with different colour combinations if you look up different trends beforehand.

  • Every location can also provide a colour scheme. The image of the certain area/location you are planning to visit can help to plan a harmonic look which will fit into the setting.

  • Not only clothes but hairstyles, make-up, nail polish and every small detail can be planned through the inspiration board.

  • After collecting all the images, analyse them to see if there are any clear patterns. For example, you can find the colour theme on which you want to focus.

  • If you question any image or don’t think you are going to suit this, remove them from the collage and try to find alternatives.

Inspirational boards can develop anyone’s personal style as it allows experimenting with new textures and colours. However, realistically not everyone can look good wearing a certain item. It’s important to be honest with yourself and add only images which will help to develop your style.

Inspirational boards can help to see if certain items go together with your wardrobe. It is easier to mix and match in the collage than returning your parcels until you’ll find something that can go with the rest of your wardrobe.

It is a good way to create outfits for your holidays as you don’t want to waste your time and decide what you are going to wear on the spot. Inspiration boards can help to plan your looks before the trip; it will save not only space in your luggage but your time.
