The City Art Centre hosted its annual student Fashion Show on the 9th of February. Students from the Art and Design College in Edinburgh created their own designs which were linked to the Italian Connection, an art exhibition which was on show at the City Art Centre.

The show opened with HND Textiles (year 2). Students showcased their garments inspired by highland dress and kilt-making, in collaboration with Emma Wilkinson. Emma is not only an ex-college student but a Gordon Nicolson Kiltmaker designer in Edinburgh. She closely worked with the students in order to expand their knowledge on Scottish heritage.

The show followed with contrasting designs from the UAL Level 3 Diploma students who developed embellished garments based on fashion illustration.

Designers invited their friends to model and created their own make-up and hairstyling, chose music and planned production processes.

ON-TREND spent the day to see the preparation, catwalk and talk to the students and one of the Art and Design Lecturers at Edinburgh College, Kim Gunn, about the designs, inspirations, preparations and future plans.
